Massmart welcomes 'Next Generation' Supply Chain Graduates to 2024 Grad Development Programme

Feb. 26, 2024

Massmart has welcomed a group of top graduates to its Early Careers Group Supply Chain Graduate Programme for 2024.

This two-year long programme aims to attract graduates across a range of supply chain related subjects including Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Data Analytics and Maths & Statistics, in order to grow the group’s talent pool in an area that is critical for the Group’s omnichannel ambitions. Since early 2020, Massmart has invested in transforming its Supply Chain as part of a journey to become South Africa’s leading omnichannel retailer. This has involved building three mega distribution centres in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, re-configuring its logistics network, and building an exceptional team of next-generation supply chain professionals.

Commenting on the role that the graduate program plays, Khethokuhle Nyawose, Vice President for Massmart Group Supply Chain said, “We have invested in building world-class omnichannel supply chain infrastructure. The graduate programme is focussed on attracting and nurturing highly talented ‘next generation’ supply chain professionals which is a necessary step to ensure that we can sustainably deliver the benefits of our investment. By participating in this comprehensive development programme, these talented new graduates will gain valuable exposure across our supply chain, and learn the principles of our Walmart inspired One-Best-Way approach to omnichannel supply chain management.”

A number of previous participants in the ‘Next Generation’ Grad Development Programme have already assumed leading roles within supply chain and other functional areas at Massmart, thereby advancing their careers further.
