Generative AI (Gen AI) continues to gain momentum around the world as organisations and individuals seek to improve their levels of productivity and focus on the most important and impactful work. Following Walmart’s launch of the My Assistant Gen AI App in the United States last year, the retailer announced its intention to roll the App out across other markets in 2024.
The My Assistant app is designed to help employees streamline daily tasks by incorporating AI-powered functionality. Notable features include the ability to assist in generating first drafts for emails, marketing content, and performance goals, allowing employees to spend more time on the most strategic work. By leveraging Walmart's proprietary data and cutting-edge technology, the app allows users to work more efficiently while safeguarding intellectual property (IP), privacy, and information security. As an in-house platform, My Assistant ensures that all company data remains protected, making it a trusted creative partner for employees.
Employees in Massmart’s Head Office started using the App in August and have by all accounts embraced the technology. Nicole Harris, Massmart's Interim Chief Technology Officer says "We are always looking to leverage Walmart’s expertise and tools that will be beneficial in our market and this app has attracted massive interest from our users whose feedback is that it has saved them valuable time on routine tasks. For example, some users estimate they’re completing first drafts 80% faster thanks to My Assistant.”
Harris added that this rollout marks the beginning of Massmart’s adoption of Walmart’s AI solutions, which span areas like customer experience, employee productivity, operations automation, content creation, and developer productivity.
