As consumer interest in Black Friday reaches its highest level in three years, Builders has announced a significant expansion with the simultaneous opening of three new stores across South Africa on 28 November 2024. The strategic expansion includes new locations in Hartbeespoort (North West), Cherry Lane (Gauteng) and Bethlehem (Free State), strengthening Builders' national retail footprint during the peak home improvement shopping season.
"This multi-store launch demonstrates our confidence in the South African market and our commitment to bringing essential home improvement solutions closer to local communities," says Andrew Stein, Vice President of Group Marketing at Massmart. "The timing, coinciding with our BlackFriDIY campaign, allows residents across these regions to immediately benefit from our seasonal offerings."
Each new store features Builders' latest modern retail design, including extensive garden centres, comprehensive building materials sections, and specialised service areas such as paint mixing, glass cutting, key cutting, and pool water testing. The expansion has created significant employment opportunities across the three regions. As part of Builders' commitment to community development, the retailer has partnered with Hope Worldwide South Africa to support Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres in each location. These partnerships include infrastructure improvements at:
- Bana Ba Lesedi Preschool in Hartbeespoort's Sunway settlement
- Ratanang Day Care and Preschool in Mamelodi
- Thutong Day Care Centre in Bohlokong, Bethlehem
Collectively, these initiatives will benefit over 230 children aged between 6 months and 6 years, helping the centresmeet the standards that make them eligible to apply for a government subsidy. The Black Friday promotional period will run until 1 December across all Builders stores nationwide, including the three new locations.
